Deborah M. Throm is an attorney and mediator committed to utilizing a collaborative divorce process to help parting spouses restructure their families without the added pain of going to court. Since 2003, Mrs. Throm has maintained an exclusively collaborative case load. Prior to opening her law office in 2007, Mrs. Throm was employed by one of the largest family law firms on the East Coast. There she managed an entirely collaborative case load.
Mrs. Throm began her education and training in dispute resolution almost twenty years ago; earning her Bachelor of Arts-with Distinction, from San Jose State University, San Jose, California (1990); majoring in Speech Communication; studying conflict resolution. Intent on becoming a Mediator, she later earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Golden Gate University, San Francisco, California (1996); with training in negotiation and mediation.
In addition to her work as a collaborative attorney, Mrs. Throm also serves as a mediator for parties in matters involving separation and divorce. Further, she provides parent coordination services; assisting parents, both during separation and after divorce, by facilitating the resolution of co-parenting disputes. Mrs. Throm is also employed as a private mediator and facilitator for the North Carolina State Board of Education.
Mrs. Throm is a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and a member of The North Carolina Association of Professional Family Mediators. |
